Carnoustie is twinned with the town of Maule which is situated about 25 miles south-west of Paris. This link has now been in place since 1992 when the original charter was signed These links have grown stronger and stronger each year with at least two annual exchange visits taking place yearly. The visits have served not only to make the close connection between the two towns but also to forge a strong link between the County of Angus and that area of France. Carnoustie Twinning Association are in fact recognised ‘Angus Ambassadors’ thanks to the efforts made to nurture the links over the years. The small village of Aulnay-sur-Mauldre which is situated about 2 miles outside Maule entered into the Association with the signing of their Charter during the visit in October 1997.
The purpose of this site is to inform people who are familiar with Carnoustie (and Maule) of where we are at this time and to hopefully keep you up to date with what is currently going on in the various activities between us and our French Friends. If you are not familiar with either town then we hope that this site will give you an idea of the aims and achievements which Twinning can attain. The ethos of Twinning has something for everyone and our connections with Maule and Aulnay provide attractions for young and old alike. We have also formed sporting links as well as cultural with for example the recent formation of the Maule Rugby Team the ‘Maule Blacks’ who for their first outing came to Carnoustie and took on our own long established rugby team. The result was gory but much enjoyed and demonstrated the true spirit of what Twinning is all about.
The Association has a distinctive logo which can be seen at the top left hand corner of each page and this was designed by Tom Smith, a founder member. This is not the only place where the logo can be seen and the next time you are walking about in and around Carnoustie you will see it sported on shirts and other articles of clothing. We get everywhere.
The Constitution of the Carnoustie Twinning Association can be seen by clicking here.
Please take the time to browse this site and if you want more information about any aspect of our activities then there is a contact link from where further details can be obtained. Thank you
